DIVINE PROVIDENCE

Samuel Johnson's 1755 dictionary defines Providence as, "The care of God over created beings; divine supervision."


The Declaration of Independence concludes with this sentence, "And for the support of this Declaration, with affirm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our Sacred Honor."
